Divergences in detail
Step 3 transition ran after investigation (ordering)
- Prose says: step 3 (transition to
In Progress) precedes step 4 (investigate). - What happened: the agent did the full investigation pass first (reads/greps/globs,
toolu_017k9yonward), then transitioned to In Progress attoolu_01BSj8a, then implemented. - Consequence: none observable — the issue was still In Progress well before any commit/push. The only visible effect is the issue sat in its prior status during the read-only investigation.
- Likely why: on a first look the agent wanted to understand the surface before flipping status; the two steps are independent and the ordering reads as harmless. Also plausibly influenced by wanting to fold prior context (step 4's "read prior memory") before acting.
- Suggested fix: no action / optional prose note. If strict ordering ever matters (e.g. to signal "someone is on this" early), add half a clause to step 3 — "transition first, so the board reflects work-in-progress before you start reading." Otherwise leave it; this is a benign reorder, not a defect.
Step 7 test gate skipped without the "ask the user" step
- Prose says: 7a — if test commands are "Not documented anywhere → ask the user whether to install a test runner… don't decide on their behalf," and only "if they say no, or this stack genuinely has no test layer → skip."
- What happened: the agent skipped straight to functional validation, noting in the report "no unit-test harness in this repo — by design; validation is functional runs +
claude plugin validate, per AGENTS.md." It never asked the user. In place of unit tests it ran a byte-for-byte no-regression diff (toolu_014G4b), a synthetic fixture render (toolu_01GSwt), and the mermaid checker (toolu_01DrnN,toolu_015dG2). - Consequence: none negative — this repo genuinely has no test layer and AGENTS.md documents that; the substituted validation was arguably more thorough than the prose's step-7 flow would have produced.
- Likely why: step 7 is written for a code repo with a runnable suite. It has no branch for "a prompt-files/marketplace repo whose 'tests' are functional validation +
claude plugin validate," so the agent used its own judgment (backed by AGENTS.md) and shortcut the ask. - Suggested fix: prose edit (small). Add to 7a's "genuinely has no test layer" branch a phrase legitimising documented-no-suite repos: "…or the repo documents that it has no automated test suite (e.g. a plugin/prompt repo validated functionally) → skip unit tests, run whatever functional/validation checks the repo does define, and say so in the report." That turns this from an implicit workaround into a sanctioned path.

The single incident that cost real time was the collector crash + 6-script bisection (toolu_014BsMC → toolu_01RiMAC, roughly the 18:xx cluster). It is task-code debugging, not a skill-compliance failure — jira-task-executor's prose gave no bad instruction; the agent was debugging the PowerShell it authored as the deliverable.

Verdict
A clean, compliant run: all 12 executor steps reached, Windows→PowerShell dispatch chosen correctly up front and confirmed by the platform row, PR base resolved to the parent branch exactly as §12 prescribes, and the run report posted as a single --body-file Jira comment. The one finding worth acting on is a prose gap, not an agent fault: step 7 has no branch for a repo that documents it has no automated test suite, so the agent had to skip the "ask the user about a test runner" gate on its own judgment and substitute functional validation — legitimise that path in 7a. The lone secondary note is the ordering swap of step 3 (transition) after step 4 (investigate), which is harmless and needs at most a one-clause nudge. The time-consuming collector-crash incident was the agent debugging its own deliverable code (a PowerShell serialization quirk), not anything jira-task-executor told it to do — no skill fix indicated there.
